Cheers, and a survivable Friday the Thirteenth to all my fellow DeviantArtists. Usually this update will be provided on the fifteenth of the month, however I could not resist stopping a little early to celebrate. Before we begin, here is the rundown. Once a month I initiate a giveaway, talk about groups, feature someone who interacted with my profile, and give everyone a small insight to any personal projects or goals in the works. But without further ado... Let's begin!
Each month I am going to write down a simple question meant to highlight things you may love about DeviantArt, the community, or your fellow artists. The only criteria to enter is answering the question honestly, with a reasonable amount of detail, such as one to two sentences. No purchases are necessary to win; winners will be chosen at random; anyone and everyone are eligible to participate. It is my hope to use this as an opportunity to get to know my fellow artists a bit better, and to create an open discussion! The winner will be announced with a small feature in the next update; though the core will be gifted on May 1st, 2018.
This month's prompt:
Is there a group that you love to submit to?
Why are they your favorite?
Lately, I have been using my free time to work on taking stock and texture photography. As such, I have been looking for groups that can improve my technique, and inspire me to take better photos! Of course there is DeviantArt's own StockProject, and a few other texture specific groups with decently sized galleries to plunder! Though much to my disappointment, there don't seem to be a great deal of active groups.
Llama4Llama Allamazing FeatureEvery update I feature a couple of people who have added llamas to my herd! I also have a permenant feature on my main page, for all the Deviants who have helped me reach certain llamilestones. Currently I am at Fancy Llama; hopefully by next feature I will be a Spartan Llama.
And last but not least:
A Personal Update
Withes are powerful in threes.
The devil awakens at 3AM.
Friday the Thirteenth.
Probably not surprising at all, but all of these superstitions have roots in Christianity. In fact, Friday the Thirteenth itself, is supposedly a play on the last supper. Jesus was the first to arrive, then each of his twelve apostles, with Judas and his betrayal being the thirteenth in all. Of course, following that, Jesus was also supposed to have died on Good Friday, to be resurrected on Easter. So of course, Friday is the unluckiest day, and thirteen the unluckiest number, as that is when the Christian god died. (Back in the day some people took this so seriously, they leave the 13th floor out of buildings!)
But back to my actual update! As I mentioned previously, I am spending a lot of my free time producing texture photos and trading llamas. Sometime in the near future I will be purchasing a new tablet and begin moving back in to digital painting / manga creation. Until then, however, I'm going to keep focusing on getting more involved in the DeviantArt community as a whole. Welcoming more new members, commenting, helping groups, etc. I remain unsure as to whether or not I'd like to post sketches or the written versions of my story line; time will tell!
